First Story Completed

The very first romance novel I read was The Bride by Julie Garwood. I picked the book from a list titled Top 100 Romance Novels comprised by Jean Mason and posted on theromancereader.com. I came upon this site purely by chance. I was bored with New York Times bestseller list and Oprah's book club list and wanted something different. I didn't pick the very first book on the list or the last. I picked The Bride because the title reminded me of the Chinese story The Bride with White Hair. I finished the book in six hours and have read all of Ms. Garwood's historical and regency novels since.

The next book I picked from the list was Nobody's Baby but Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I have never enjoyed a story as much as this one. I had my first taste of romantic comedy and since then, I have read all but three novels from Ms. Phillips.
The third book I picked from the list was Paradise by Judith McNaught. If anyone is apprehensive about reading romance novels, Paradise will change your mind. I love this story so much, I wrote my own.

Granted, I've come accross some stories that were pretty cheesy but I've also come accross some stories that are well worth the time to read.

With that said, three years ago, I started writing my own story. Two years ago, I completed the story and began my road to publish. But query after query, they were rejected. It is time I stop waiting and search for other outlets.

I hope to self publish my story some time next month.
